Yesterday morning when I went running, it was so beautiful outside and I thought spring was coming. That's okay - it is coming, just SLOWLY.
Anyways, I was going to write this yesterday, but I had a crazy day and didn't get a chance. PS - I took my Stats 221 final this morning - wahoo! I am SO happy to be done with that class.
So, yesterday as I prepared to go running I decided to blow up the tires on my amazing jogger stroller, that looks like this.

Then I got to thinking about this stroller. This one time when we were shopping around for baby stuff, I told Aaron that I REALLY wanted a jogger. They were expensive, and yeah. We looked on KSL and found some that were still expensive, but we called a few people just to ask about them.
We called one family and Aaron just asked them a few questions about the jogger they had posted (at like $150 or $200, I can't remember). Anyways, he hung up and started calling other people. I was doing something else when his cell phone rang and he answered it. It was the woman he had just been speaking with on the phone. I guess she had hung up the phone, talked to her husband, and called us back to tell us they wanted to GIVE us the jogger - FOR FREE!
ARE PEOPLE REALLY THAT NICE?
YES.
The jogger was in Salt Lake, but Aaron had a business lunch (right) with his old mission president a few days later, so he picked it up on his way home. I was so grateful. I couldn't believe how nice that couple was.
So, all of those thoughts were going through my head as I pumped up the tires before my run. Then I decided that someday when our kids out-grow something that is still in good condition, I'm going to post it online for a good deal of money, and when someone calls, I'm going to give it to them - FOR FREE!
Actually if we ever have more money than we do, maybe I'll buy something brand new, post it, and then give it away for free. Wouldn't that be fun?!
Anyways, so I had a great run. I was in a grateful mood, and I realized that I had SO much to be grateful for as I ran. Here are a few of the things that I was grateful for as I ran:
Blue skies.
Fluffy clouds.
The view of the southern mountains (they look like Narnia to me).
The runner with the pink shorts.
My stylish pink jacket.
Running past the MTC and thinking of the sweet years I spent working there.
Running past the temple and seeing the missionaries come to and fro from there.
Seeing girls in skirts walking towards the temple - I knew that was where they were going.
Seeing elderly people in church clothes driving towards the temple - I knew that was where they were going.

Timpview drive - thank you for being straight and having no hills!
White picket fences.
An American flag in someone's yard.
A bluejay I saw - I was so excited to tell Michael about it. (Yes, I talk to Michael non-stop - people must think I'm crazy!)
Kids walking to campus with back-packs on and being grateful that I HAD SUCH A GOOD TIME AT BYU, BUT THAT I'M ALMOST DONE!!!!!!!! WAHOO!
I thought of the Chinese Proverb on a paper in our bathroom:
When eating bamboo sprouts, remember the man who planted them.

Super cute! I am starting to run again too. I defiantly need to get a jogging stroller...Hope I can find one for free too! That is so nice of that couple. It makes me want to do something nice for someone else too. There is a movie called, Pay it Forward that has a similar theme. Much love.
ReplyDeleteI heart you. =)
ReplyDeleteThat is the sweetest thing. I'm going to do that too one day - post something on ksl and then give it away for free. I love how you recognize all the wonderful things around you. LOVE YOU!
