So, on Saturday I went to a great Stake Relief Society Conference (I only got to go for the first part, due to an Accounting lunch Aaron and I went to up at Sundance), and heard Sister Runia (our Stake President's wife) speak. It was just what I needed to hear.
She talked about a lot of different things, but these are a couple of the things that stood out to me.
1. Practice laughing - try it, it's great! IT WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE!
2. Write down 25 ordinary things that make you happy.
That's your homework. So, I haven't made my list yet, but if you check out my old post, "My Favorite Things," you'll see most of them. However, this morning I came up with a few more.
Ordinary Things That Make April Happy
1. Going running three days in row - woot!
2. Being too tired to make lunch for Aaron in the morning before he leaves, and naturally having an excuse to see him in the middle of the day to bring him food. :)
3. Having gas in the car.
4. Having a car that runs.
5. Empty trash cans. That sounds crazy, I know. But I just realized how much I love (almost on the brink of obsessive-compulsive) love, love, seeing nothing in the garbage can in the office, bathroom, and kitchen. I guess I just don't like the sight of trash. I try and find every excuse I can to fill up the kitchen garbage can so that I can empty it. :)
6. Having Michael on a good schedule so that he takes great naps!
7. Finally cleaning off the deck.
8. Watching the Olympics.
9. Eating Valentine Candy - especially the little hearts!
10. Having a clean home.
11. (I know 10 is a good number to stop at, but I just had these last two) Aaron's validation movie he showed me the other night. YOU ARE GREAT.
12. Michael's smiles when he wakes up from a nap or from a good night's rest.
Well, I could go on. I just realized - ORDINARY THINGS MAKE ME HAPPY. It's true. I'm delighted with life.
