Sandy (aka Frankenstorm) came through New Canaan. The wind was crazy loud and sounded like a train rushing through town. Miraculously, our little yellow apartment was spared. Thank you for your prayers. 65% of our town was (and still is) out of power. Our power never went out (though it flickered a lot). We are so grateful. We were prepared, but we were planning on escaping to our friend's home if our power went out. Luckily ours didn't, because our friend's home was impossible to access, and they lost power for a bit before they got their generator working.
We were required to stay inside and to not drive anywhere. Aaron had work off on Monday and Tuesday. The kids here have school off the whole week. Halloween was postponed...indefinitely. Needless to say, we have had a great time. Other than being cooped up, Aaron got some nice studying in for his final CPA exam, and we got to have some quality family time. Oh, and Aaron beat me at Scrabble. Go figure. He wins every game we play together!
These pictures were snagged from my friend's fb page. These are for Ben, who asked for pictures (and who has been diligently checking on us multiple times throughout the past few days - what a brother!).
Note: This is NOT what it looks like in our neighborhood. We barely look like we've bit hit with anything. Just a few branches lying around. We live right in town = fewer trees to begin with. However, these pictures are pictures of homes/neighborhoods that are within one to four miles of us.

That's it, folks. So many still don't have power. The library and the YMCA have turned into shelters, charging stations, etc. We are just hanging out at home. Aaron is back to work. We feel SO blessed. Our thoughts and prayers are constantly with those who have lost family and friends, and whose lives have been turned upside-down. Time to get to work helping others.
p.s. I just got a few more pictures from the town website. These are from all over town. Sorry they are blurry!
