More Adventures

Let's see, let's see - we have done SO many fun things, I don't know where to start.

On Friday I spent a good part of the day at Torrey Pines Beach with some young mothers in the ward. It was fun, but Michael was sleeping in my arms before we even left.

Friday night - As soon as Aaron got home from work, we headed off to La Jolla shores. We had a picnic on the beach and then walked around near the Children's Pool. We had a blast and saw quite a few seals, some interesting trees, and a lot of birds. It was a beautiful night and we had such a fun time.

Michael is loving walking on the beach and having the waves wash up over his feet!

Aaron, Michael, and a REALLY COOL TREE

Seals (it's hard to see that they are all over this rock)

Gorgeous Sunset

Saturday morning - Ward Pancake Breakfast. Yum.

After the breakfast we packed up and headed downtown to see the U.S.S. Midway. It was incredible! It is a HUGE aircraft carrier (turned museum) that was used for 47 years from the end of WWII to 1991. It made us appreciate America and those who have served our country even more.

Here are some fun facts:

Ship:
69,000 tons total weight
2,000 feet of anchor chain
1001 feet long
258 feet wide
4.02-acre flight deck
20-ton anchors
20th century's longest-serving carrier
13,500 meals served daily
Crew of 4500

I thought driving in CA was hard - try driving one of these. There were SO many switches!

The Jacobs in Jail

This was right on the shore by the U.S.S. Midway - a Sailor and his Bride, so naturally Aaron and I had to rein-act it. Naturally. :)

(notice it's on our left)

The U.S.S. Midway was Aaron's pick for our day-trip and he did a good job. He loved it too! :)

After touring the ship for a few hours we drove to Coronado Beach - and it was everything everyone said it would be. It was beautiful.

On Saturday evening we drove to the church to see the high school fireworks (supposedly good viewing spot, and supposedly at 9:00pm). No fireworks. Guess we missed them. Anyways, we were told wrong and we were bummed. Oh well.

Sunday was a wonderful 4th of July. We went to church, and then had some time to study, relax, and have a great dinner. I even made a flag cake. Fancy, I know.

It was also great to talk to our families (we love Skype) and to watch a few fireworks on TV. Wonderful day.

Monday - Aaron had the day off work. Wahoo! We decided to go to the beach and actually play in the water and bring our swimming suits. Well, it wasn't the best day for playing in the water - too cold! We just played on the beach and got our feet wet because it was overcast and a bit chilly. Okay, Aaron did go in and get wet up to his waist, Michael and I stopped at our feet! We played Phase 10, buried each other in the sand and ate lunch.

Our turtle - he looks kind of like a camel, and kind of like a dinosaur to me!

King Michael! (This was our only way to keep Michael in one place!)

(Notice Michael trying sand for the first time - yum!)

Good times.

We just can't stop having fun!
